
6th grade students spent this week brainstorming and writing about the pros and cons of children getting an allowance. Then they had a live debate in class on Friday about it.

It was a Zombie Apocalypse in 3B today! After a long week of Iowa Assessments students worked in group to escape from the Zombies. They had to answer Math questions that give them clues to their next cards. Congratulations to the one group that escaped!

Elementary yearbooks may be ordered by sending $5 to the office with your child's name and teacher on the envelope. Orders will be accepted through April 1st. Yearbooks will be delivered in late May.

We are also collecting Box Tops in April. Please start collecting those now. More information later.

The Elementary Student Council is working with JDRF to raise money for juvenile diabetes. We have students in our building impacted with diabetes. Similar to Pennies for Patients, we are asking for students to make donations in their classes this week. We appreciate your support.

Osceola Parks & Rec is offering baseball and softball for kids 4 years old through 6th grade. Contact Osceola Parks & Rec or see the attached flyer for more details.

The DaVinci Bridge Challenge was taken on by the upper grade TAG students. Their objective was to build a “bridge” with only pencils and rubber bands that would hold at least five pounds. The constraints were that they could NOT bind anything together with the rubber bands. Instead, they thought about friction, balance, and engineering. Students found this “frustrating but fun!”


Next week is ISASP testing! Students in grades 3-11 have had exposure to this new online test through tool tutorials and some practice tests; however, extra practice and exposure would be beneficial. Here are the links to the tutorial and practice tests.

Second grade TAG students imagined and participated in the STEM straw boat challenge. Using 10 straws and 10 inches of plastic wrap, could they make a boat to hold at least 25 pennies? The top design held 66!


Barring any more cancelled school days, the School Board approved the following changes to the 2018-19 school calendar.
Last day for students is Thursday, May 30th.
Last day for teachers is Wednesday, June 5th.

Beginning March 18th until further notice buses will be on hard surface only morning and afternoon.

Clarke K-12: There will be no school March 11-15 for spring break. Classes will resume on Monday, March 18th.

Just a reminder that the Clarke food and clothing pantry will be CLOSED today, March 11th. It will reopen Monday, March 18th.

The school board meeting scheduled for April 8th has been moved to April 11th @ 6:00 pm in the central office board room. This change is reflected on our website and app calendars. Thank you.
