In Mrs. Coates’s 4th grade classroom, students are learning all about turtles during Morning Meeting! Today, a guest from Decatur County Conservation visited with a real turtle 🐢 to help teach about turtle eggs, shells, and more. Students even got to create their own turtles to take home! 💚

Students dressed up like the legendary Paul Bunyan, a class favorite! After completing their assessments, they enjoyed a directed drawing of Paul and Babe, made colorful Babe the Blue Ox headbands, and performed reader’s theater versions of the story.

4th grade has been learning about electrical systems in science! This week Mrs. Coates' class did an experiment putting together an electrical circuit using a solar panel to power their circuits by the sun. They are very excited about the new science curriculum and are looking forward to more experiments!

📚🍞 Miss Follmann’s kindergarten class took a trip back in time and learned about bread makers from Colonial America! After reading all about it, they got hands-on and made their own bread using a bread machine. The best part? Tasting their warm, homemade bread with different toppings! 🤩🍯🧈

Our second graders had an un-bee-lievable time today with the Iowa State University Insect Zoo! 🏫🔬 As part of their CKLA unit on bugs, this hands-on experience brought their learning to life in the most creepy-crawly way! 🧐📚
The expert from ISU introduced students to a fascinating lineup of insects, sharing fun facts and showing off these incredible creatures up close. But the best part? Our brave students had the chance to touch and even hold some of them! 🖐️🐛
From stink bugs to stick bugs, beetles to cockroaches—and even a tarantula—our second graders faced their fears and made some buggy new friends! 🕷️💛
