Clarke Elementary School Procedures for Before/After School and Traffic Flow

Before class
You may drop your child off before school either on the south side of the building (Cass Street) or on the west side of the building (South Kossuth). Please do not drop off your child(ren) at the entrance on the north side (Circle Drive) of the building. Only buses are allowed on Circle Drive. Students may enter the building at 7:40 a.m. for breakfast. Students will not be allowed to enter the building before 7:40 a.m. for breakfast. If your child will not be eating breakfast, please make sure they are here by 8:00 a.m. School officially starts at 8:00 a.m.
During the day
No adult should use the North Entrance (Jefferson Street) or South Entrance (Cass Street) to pick up her child during the school day. If you need to enter the building to pick up your child, please use the main entrance (Entrance 12-South Kossuth Street) and report to the office.
Students will not be allowed to leave the premises during school hours without permission from the office. Parents who wish to pick up their children during school hours may do so in the main office. Your signature is required before your child can leave school. Parents are asked not to knock and have their children meet them at the door. If a student must leave the premises with someone other than the student's parent, arrangements must be made in advance with the knowledge of the teacher(s), secretaries, or the principal.
After school
The expectation is that students will go directly home or to locations designated by their parents immediately at the end of the school day. Students walking home from school will be released after the buses have departed. If your student will be picked up by someone other than their parents, arrangements must be made in advance. Please call the office before 2:00 to notify staff of your transportation change. Parents planning to pick up their child after school should be there no later than 3:15. Students not picked up will report to the office and their parents will be contacted.
Children can be picked up (and dropped off) on either the south side of the building (Cass St.--please enter from Dewey St.) or the west side of the building (S. Kossuth St.--going north). Due to the safety of our students and staff when you pick up your student, the car must follow the flow of the pick up line. Vehicles and families parked in non-designated areas will be asked to follow the drop-off line. Parking and not following the flow line slows the flow of traffic and increases the likelihood of an accident.
W. Cass Street Traffic Flow
If you are going to drop off or pick up your child on W. Cass Street, please do so via Dewey Street. If necessary, traffic will loop into the staff parking lot to prevent highway congestion. Families of Preschool students will pick up their students at 3:00 p.m. There will be a second pick up line for Preschool students ONLY to the left of the Elementary student line. This line will disperse by 3:10 when the elementary students are dismissed. Please watch this video for a better visual explanation. Students will be in grade level groups on the sidewalk. Please go as far forward as possible; your student will walk to meet you.
S. Kossuth Street Traffic Flow
If you are dropping off or picking up your child on S. Kossuth Street, please approach the drop-off line heading East on W. Cass Street to avoid congestion on Highway 34. When dropping off, your child will be assisted by a staff member to exit the vehicle. For the safety of students and staff, please do not pull around a vehicle that is dropping off students. When picking up, please pull as far forward as possible to allow others to park behind you.

Los niños pueden ser recogidos (y dejados) ya sea en el lado sur del edificio (Cass St.--por favor entre por la calle Dewey) o el lado oeste del edificio (Calle S. Kossuth -yendo hacia el norte). Si usted va a dejar o recoger a su hijo(a) en la calle W. Cass, por favor hagalo via la calle Dewey. Si es necesario, el tráfico hará una vuelta dentro del estacionamiento del personal para prevenir congestionamiento en la carretera. Las familias de alumnos de Preescolar recogerán a sus estudiantes a las 3:00 p.m. Habrá una segunda línea para recoger SOLO para los estudiantes de preescolar a la izquierda de la línea de estudiantes de primaria. Esta línea se dispersará para las 3:10 cuando los estudiantes de la primaria sean despedidos. Por favor vea este video para mejor explicacion visual. Los estudiantes estarán en grupos por grados en la banqueta. Por favor siga hacia lo más enfrente posible; su estudiante caminara a encontrarlo.
Calle S. Kossuth Fluidez de Tráfico
Si usted va a dejar o recoger a su hijo(a) en la calle S. Kossuth, por favor acérquese a la línea de entrega en dirección a el lado Este hacia la calle W. Cass para evitar la congestión de la Carretera 34. Cuando deje a su hijo un miembro del personal lo asistirá para salir del vehículo. Por la seguridad de los estudiantes y personal, por favor no se estacione enfrente del vehículo que está dejando estudiantes. Cuando recoja, por favor estacione lo más enfrente posible para permitir que otros se estacionen detrás de usted.
