Parents of 5th grade students:
My name is Tanya Hardy and I am the 5th and 6th grade band instructor at Clarke. In May, I mailed out letters to all of the parents of the students who would be entering 5th grade. Some parents have returned the forms. Parents are still able to return the form or email me. thardy@clarke.k12.ia.us. Summer is ending and we are looking forward to the upcoming school year. I know that this year will be challenging for all of us. However, I also believe that this can be a fun learning experience with addition of a chance to participate in the band program.
This school is having the students be able to attend in person or online if the parent so chooses for their family. I want to give you some information concerning the start of the 5th grade band. The students for now will choose instruments either in person with me and their parent by appointment prior to August 27th, or over the zoom prior to August 27th. If families choose to have their student do the online learning and have internet at home, we can still have individual lessons set up by me over the zoom. As of now the 5th grade students will only have individual lessons with me until October. A decision will be made later about sectionals or group band. If you choose to have your student attend in person, I will be abiding by all the safety precautions set by the school and the CDC. Hand washing, sanitizing, social distance, and I will wear a mask.
If you already have an instrument after your appointment with me, then you may use that instrument after we make sure that it is in working condition. Those who need instruments for rental can make appointments with me again on August 27th in the evening between 6:30 and 8:00pm. I will have an appointment sign up list made available. If you are unable to get the instrument on August 27th, there is also the ordering and paying online option through Rieman Music. Mi nombre es Tanya Hardy y yo soy el instructor de banda de los grados 5to y 6to en Clarke. En mayo, yo mandé por correo cartas a todos los padres con estudiantes quienes entrarán al 5to grado. Algunos padres regresaron las formas. Los padres todavía pueden regresar las formas o mandarme un correo electrónico (email) thardy@clarke.k12.ia.us. El verano está terminando y nosotros estamos viendo hacia el año escolar que viene. Yo sé que este año será un reto para todos nosotros. Sin embargo, yo también creo que ésto puede ser una experiencia divertida en adición a la oportunidad de participar en el programa de banda.
Esta escuela está teniendo disponible que los estudiantes puedan ir a clases en persona o enlínea si el padre escoge eso para su familia. Yo quiero darle alguna información concerniente al empiezo de la banda de 5to grado. Los estudiantes por ahora escogerán sus instrumentos ya sea en persona conmigo y sus padres haciendo una cita antes del 27 de agosto, o por Zoom antes del 27 de agosto. Si las familias escogen tener a sus estudiantes en aprendizaje en línea y tienen acceso a internet en casa, nosotros podemos tener lecciones individuales que van a ser realizadas por Zoom. Hasta ahora los estudiantes de 5to grado sólo tendrán lecciones individuales conmigo hasta octubre. Una decisión será hecha más tarde acerca de cómo seccionar o el grupo de banda. Si usted escoge tener su estudiante atendiendo en persona, yo voy a seguir todas las precauciones de seguridad marcadas por la escuela y el CDC: lavado de manos, sanitación, distancia social, y yo usaré una máscara.
Si usted ya tiene un instrumento después de su reunion conmigo, entonces usted puede usar el instrumento después de que nosotros estemos seguros que el instrumento está en condición de trabajar.
