DISTRICT-WIDE NOTICE - CYBER INCIDENT RESOLUTION

(OSCEOLA, IA - FEBRUARY 3, 2020) As reported on January 22nd 2020, the computer network for Clarke Community School District experienced a cyber threat from a party or parties outside the district network on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Clarke administrators detected the attack and had it contained within the hour.

The Clarke Community School District’s IT provider as well as a cyber forensics security team and law enforcement were notified within 24 hours of the incident. After a full forensics investigation, all systems have been recovered, cleaned and restored from backups accordingly. As of 5:00PM on January 31st, 2020, all district computer systems were back online and running properly. 

According to the cyber forensics security team, there is no indication that student data was accessed, compromised, or otherwise manipulated or removed from the School District’s systems. All evidence gathered shows that the speed in which the school district responded to this event prevented any major breach or loss of student and teacher data. 

Out of an abundance of caution and concern, passwords for all users of Infinite Campus have been reset. To access your student’s Infinite Campus portal and change your password, please go to https://5il.co/cqz3 and follow the instructions. Please make sure the password you choose is original and secure and is saved in a secure place for future use.
