Language Arts

This is my seventh year of teaching  at Clarke!  I teach all sections of English I and English IV.  As a result, I get to see many of the same students twice: first as a freshmen and again as seniors.  Ask any high school student and they'll probably tell you I'm one of the most ridiculous teachers in the building.  I am a self-professed nerd (and proud of it!), have more shoes than any one person could ever need, and am the biggest Harry Potter fan you'll ever meet.

Like many of my students, I am a product of southern Iowa: I was born and raised in Ottumwa, just 70 miles east of Osceola.  In 2006 I left "the south" and moved up to northeastern Iowa--Decorah, IA, to be exact--for college. In May of 2010, I graduated magna cum laude from Luther College.  While attending Luther I majored in English and minored in Secondary Education.  (Little known fact: I almost majored in History! Luckily I came to my senses...)  I also had the opportunity to study abroad for a month, one that was driven by my interest in European literature and history and sparked my love of international travel.

In my free time I love to read, travel, shop (books and shoes are my kryptonite), and bake tasty treats.
